Homework

Regular homework is given out in every year group as follows:

Reception

From October onwards Reception children will be expected to read 5 times a week for 5 minutes. Parents will be encouraged to comment on their child’s reading post on Tapestry.  They will also be set phonics sounds and high frequency words to learn.

KS1

Reading: Children are expected to read at home five times per week for a minimum of 15 minutes each time. Parents will be encouraged to comment on their child’s reading post on Tapestry.

Sounds Write: High frequency words and new sounds to be sent out when covered in phonics lessons.

Maths:  During Term One and Two, Year 1 will have Numbots to complete. In January they will have a paper copy linked to the weeks learning.

During Term One Year 2 will have TTRS to complete. From Term Two children will have a paper copy linked to the weeks learning.

Numbots and TT Rockstars should be regularly monitored by staff with the expectation that children are using it at home on a regular basis.

LKS2:

Reading: Children are expected to read at home five times per week for a minimum of 15 minutes each time. Their home reading record books should be signed by someone at home to confirm that this has taken place.

Sounds Write: A spelling overview list will be sent home termly.  This will be supported by class learning of strategies.  This will then be assessed in a termly test.

Maths:  Maths homework for the year will be questions generated from Maths Bot (https://mathsbot.com/primaryMenu

Staff will be required to use the Maths Bot Arithmetic questions (compact version) to generate ten questions per week for the children to complete. Following training on using a Seesaw home account, staff will be able to upload a PDF version to Seesaw so only those without access to a device at home would require a printed copy.
