Mental Health Week

This year’s theme for Mental Health Week was “This is My Place,” which focuses on the importance of belonging and how it affects children’s mental health. In KS1, we acknowledged Mental Health Week by thinking carefully about the environments where we feel safe and belong and can confidently say “This is My Place.”

Year 6 had a memorable visit to IBCC, where they explored the powerful stories and history connected to World War II. Through engaging exhibits, artefacts, and personal accounts, the children developed a deeper understanding of the bravery, sacrifice, and resilience shown during this time. The trip supported their learning in history and encouraged thoughtful discussion, reflection, and curiosity. Year 6 represented our school brilliantly, showing respect, enthusiasm, and excellent behaviour throughout the visit.
Our recent non‑uniform day in aid of the Emergency Allergy Medication – Anaphylaxis Kit was a fantastic success. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we raised over £300.
School council were fortunate enough to have a visit from Lincolnshire County Council. We learnt what we can do as a school to help protect our planet, and discussed what happens to our household waste once it leaves our homes. We are excited for them to return later on in the year, to discuss the changes to wheely bins!
On Wednesday a group of 30 pupils from Years 4, 5 and 6 went to Birmingham’s BP Pulse Live Arena to take part in the Young Voices Concert. The children have been busy rehearsing in choir club since September and were an absolute credit to the school whilst singing alongside 6,941 pupils from school choirs across the country. A brilliant day was had by all and the children thoroughly enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience. A huge thank you to all staff and pupils involved for making it such a memorable day.
Year 4 were extremely lucky to receive a visit from local company Burmor Construction and Freddie and Finley’s dad! They spent time with both Year 4 classes talking about career opportunities in construction and then giving the children time to use tools to build/deconstruct a wooden house. The other group used KAPLA to construct different challenges and then swapped around. At the end of the day, we had a very generous donation from the company to support us with creating our own construction area at the back of the field. We are extremely grateful for the donation and know that this will be used and well-loved by the children moving forward. A brilliant afternoon!

The whole of Key Stage 2 set off with great excitement to the South Holland Centre for a festive treat — the pantomime Rapunzel. The performance was a delight from start to finish, filled with laughter, singing, and plenty of audience participation. The children were captivated by the story and joined in with enthusiasm, making the experience even more memorable.
