Welcome to Puffins Class

PE days for Term 3 are:

THURSDAYS & FRIDAYS

We are a Year 3 class taught by Miss Doubleday.

What are we learning about this Term?

Who lives in Antarctica?

This term, we will be learning all about Antarctica and what makes this remarkable continent so unique. Children will investigate the climate, discovering why Antarctica is the coldest, driest, and windiest place on Earth.

What We’ll Be Learning

  • Human and physical features: Pupils will identify key geographical features of Antarctica, such as ice shelves, mountains, research stations, and wildlife habitats. They will learn to locate these on a range of maps.
  • Climate and environment: We will explore how Antarctica’s extreme climate shapes the landscape and affects the plants, animals, and people who work there.
  • Ernest Shackleton’s expedition: Children will learn about the explorer Ernest Shackleton and follow the dramatic journey of the Endurance expedition. They will map his route across Antarctica and consider the challenges he and his crew faced.
