Ducklings

Welcome to Ducklings Class

PE and Forest day for Term 3 is:

TUESDAYS

We are a Reception class taught by Miss Frisby (EYFS Lead).

In Ducklings class we believe in learning through play and exploration. Learning, laughter, and adventure are always a priority for us as children begin their school journey. I love sharing stories and exploring new worlds together, helping imaginations grow through reading and play.

What are we learning about this Term?

Understanding the World

This term, children are developing their curiosity about the world around them. They’ll explore how people live, how communities work, and how different environments shape the way living things survive.

People from the Past

We’ll be learning about significant individuals from history, discovering who they were, what they achieved, and how their actions continue to influence life today.

Jobs in the Community

Children will explore a range of jobs within the community, learning about:

  • What different roles involve
  • The skills needed to carry them out
  • The qualities that help people succeed

This helps children understand how communities function and the many ways people contribute.

Forest Wildlife and Winter Adaptations

We’ll investigate animals that live in forest habitats and how they adapt to winter. Children will learn about hibernation, migration, and the physical changes that help wildlife survive colder weather.

Life in the Past and Life Today

By comparing daily life long ago with life now, children will explore changes in homes, toys, transport, and routines. This builds an understanding of how the world has changed over time.

Chinese New Year

As part of our cultural learning, we’ll be finding out about Chinese New Year. Children will explore traditions, stories, celebrations, and the importance of this festival for families around the world.
