Welcome to Monkshouse Minis our Nursery Class
We are a Nursery Class taught by Mrs Monaghan and Mrs Harrison.
In Monkshouse Minis, we have two teachers who nurture curiosity, confidence, and independence through purposeful play. We create a warm, welcoming environment where children explore, communicate, and develop early friendships at their own pace. Through stories, songs, and hands-on discovery, we support growing imaginations and a love of learning. Every day is filled with care, creativity, and joyful first experiences of preschool life.
Our Nursery classroom is a bright, inviting space that is designed to spark imagination and conversation. Role play, storytelling, puppets, and cosy corners create a language-rich environment where children love to learn and express themselves.
Learning here is playful, creative, and child-led. Our teachers carefully enhance each child’s curiosity through thoughtful interactions and engaging termly topics. Children can independently explore small world play, natural enquiry, construction, maths, and creative stations filled with paints, malleable materials, and plenty of tools for cutting, joining, and making! Reading and writing opportunities are woven throughout, both indoors and outdoors, so children develop literacy skills naturally as they play. Outside, our spacious, Nursery-only area offers endless opportunities for exploration and physical development.
Our nursery offers both 15-hour and 30-hour funded places for eligible children. Families accessing the 15-hour funding can choose between two attendance patterns: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings, or Wednesday afternoons, Thursday, and Friday. For those eligible for the 30-hour funding, children can attend the nursery full-time across the week, enjoying extended learning and play opportunities that support their development and readiness for school.

Superheroes and Super Stories
This term, we will explore the exciting world of superheroes—both fictional and real. Alongside enjoying a range of traditional and modern stories, the class will discover that superheroes don’t just live in comic books.
🦸 Real-Life Superheroes
Children will learn about inspiring people who make a difference in their communities, including:
- Luke Mortimer
- Alex Scott
Through their stories, pupils will learn about community helpers, the importance of helping others, and how anyone—no matter their age—can make a positive impact.
This is what our current parents and carers had to say about their child’s experience at Monkshouse Mini’s:
“I’m happy how each child is treated as an individual and their individual needs are identified and met.”
“Amazing nursery with wonderful caring staff.”

“He goes with a smile every day. The caring and supportive environment is what we liked most.”
