Art & Design

The art and design curriculum stimulates children’s creativity and imagination by providing visual, tactile and sensory experiences and a unique way of understanding and responding to the world.

Through using a variety of media and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, collage and printmaking, the children learn about pattern, texture, colour, tone, line, shape, form and space.

They are encouraged to explore, evaluate and respond to the ideas and meanings of images and artefacts from a variety of different artists and designers, styles, cultures and times.

They then use all of these skills and processes to help them to communicate their own ideas, feelings and meanings in both two and three dimensional pieces of work.
